
How are You Coping with It?
Many people are currently feeling distress about the disruption that current events are causing in their lives. Some have lost their jobs; others have lost some of their sources of income. Many have lost the feeling of stability in their environment, while some have lost the pride that they formerly had in their country.
These events, for those who experience them, cause anxiety and even panic, depression, and anger. And for those who are given contradictory information, (such as: day 1, you're fired, day 2, you must come back to work in the office, and, perhaps, day 3, you're fired [again]), this whipsawing can cause cognitive paralysis. Even during this emotional numbness, one may have physical signs (rapid heartbeat, hyperventilation, tense muscles) of underlying feelings of fear and anger. And for those who are not directly impacted, they may be distressed by the knowledge of what is happening to those who are affected.
