Emotional Responses Don't Serve Us Well
We need to keep up with the news for a variety of reasons, one of which is that some of the events we learn about may affect us personally. But our responses are often inadequate; they are not true solutions. Feelings are actually partial solutions; they lessen what would otherwise be unbearable internal distress but they are not true solutions because they don't solve the problem.
